Over the course of the 2009-2010 school year, the Boylston Chess Foundation is planning to hold a series of chess camps during the December, February, and April school recesses, as well as two summer camps in June and August.

2009

June: 23^rd, 24^th, 25^th, and 26^th 9:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. each day
August: 18^th, 19^th, 20^th, and 21^st 9:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. each day
December: 28^rd, 29^th, 30^th, and 31^th 9:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. each day

2010

February: 16^th, 17^th, 18^th, and 19^th 9:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. each day
April: 20^th, 21^st, 22^rd, and 23^rd 9:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. each day
June: 29^th, 30^th, July 1^st, and July 2^nd 9:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. each day
August: 17^th, 18^th, 19^th, and 20^th 9:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. each day

These chess camps invite young chess players who already have a complete understanding of the rules of chess to come and develop their abilities. With a combination of lecture, question/answer, and hands-on techniques, the instructor(s) will cover: Tactics, Strategy, Openings, Middlegames, Endgames, and Problems.

Who can join?:
School-age children, K to 12, interested in getting better at chess from motivated beginner to intermediate.

How much does it cost?:
Each camp is $75 for Boylston Chess Club members. Non-members who have never been members before will need to pay to join the club for one year in which case the camp fee is waived. (Parents with more than one child in the camp can get a discount—only $50 per child.)

BCC Family Membership - $125

Wednesday, February 3: Early Bird Rapid Quads 3RR; G/30. Entry fee $27, $17 BCC members. Prizes: G$50 first place each quad; Registration: 6:30 to 6:45; Rounds: 6:45, ASAP

Thursday, February 4, 11, 18, 25: Thursday Night Swiss 4SS; 40/90, SD/20 2 Sections: Open & U1800 Minimun 6 players to have an Open section or these players will roll over U1800 section: EF: $27, $17 to BCF members. Prizes: $(240) Based on 20 entries: Open & under 1800 $80 2nd $40. Registration: 6:30 to 6:55. Rd: 7PM

Saturday, February 6: Quads 10-2 3RR; G/60 Entry fee $27, $17 BCF members. Prizes: G$50 First place each quad; Registration: 9:15 to 9:55; Rounds: 10:00, 12:40, 3:00

Sunday, February 7: BCF Super Bowl Octads 3SS G/45 EF: $27, $17 to BCF members. Prizes: b/8 per section $60-30. Reg: 9:55 – 10:25. Rounds: 10:30, 12:45, 3:00. T.D. Note: tournament will finish by 4:30 - Super Bowl will start at 6:25 PM

Saturday, February 13: BCF Tornado # 101 4SS; G/60 EF: $27, $17 to BCF members. Two sections: Open, U1800, (at least 6 in each section, otherwise there will be joined to other section); Prizes: b/entries. Reg: 9:15 – 9:55. Rounds: 10, 12:30, 3:00, 5:10

Sunday, February 14: Sunday Scholastic Quads 3RR; Game/30. Sections: Groups of four according to rating; Entry fee: $15; $10 for Boylston C. F. members, join at the tournament and get the member rate. Prizes: $20 1st per Quad, 2nd Medal . Registration: 9:30-10:00 am; Rounds: 10:20 – 11:25 – Lunch - 12:45 Players can not withdraw and must finish the tournament once started. Penalties may apply. USCF membership required USCF rules of play will be used-For more information 617-417-8800 Players are not allowed to withdraw from tournament due to fairness & sporting considerations to other players.

Saturday, February 20: BCF Highland Ave. Octads 3SS; G/65 EF: $27, $17 to BCF members. Prizes: b/8per section $60-30. Reg: 9:15 – 9:55. Rounds: 10, 12:40, 3:00

Saturday, February 27: BCF Franklyn Young Memorial 4SS; G/65 EF: $27, $17 to BCF members. Two sections: Open & U1800 (at least 5 in each section, otherwise there will be one section); Prizes: b/entries. Reg: 9:15 – 9:55. Rounds: 10, 12:40, 3:00, 5:15

Sunday, February 28: Sunday Scholastic 4SS;Game/45 Sections: 8&U, 11&U & 14&U Entry fee: $15; $10 for Boylston C. F. members; join at the tournament and get the member rate. Prizes: Trophies to top two in each section . Reg: 9:30-10:00 AM; Rounds: 10:20 –11:50 – Lunch - 1:40 – 3:10 USCF membership required USCF rules of play will be used-For more information 617-417-8800

Monday, March 1 – May 3: 11th Annual Paramount 10 Rounds, 2RR, Players divided into six player sections by rating; 40/120, G/50 Adjourments are allowed after 4 hours of play; Entry fee: $25, $20 to BCF members; Prizes: 50% EF Registration: 6:00 to 6:45 PM Round at 7PM.
