Over the course of the 2011-2012 school year, the Boylston Chess Foundation is planning to hold a series of chess camps during the December, February, and April school recesses, as well as two summer camps in June and August.
2011
- December: 27th, 28th, 29th, and 30th 9:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. each day
2012
- February: 21st, 22nd, 23rd, and 24th 9:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. each day
- April: 17th, 18th, 19th, and 20th 9:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. each day
- June (school's out): 26th, 27th, 28th, and 29th 9:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. each day
- August (school's out): 21st, 22nd, 23rd, and 24th 9:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. each day
These chess camps invite young chess players who already have a complete understanding of the rules of chess to come and develop their abilities. With a combination of lecture, question/answer, and hands-on techniques, the instructor(s) will cover: Tactics, Strategy, Openings, Middlegames, Endgames, and Problems.
Who can join?:
School-age children, K to 12, interested in getting better at chess from motivated beginner to intermediate.
How much does it cost?:
Each camp is $80 for Boylston Chess Club members. Non-members who have never been members before will need to pay to join the club for one year in which case the camp fee is waived. (Parents with more than one child in the camp can get a discountonly $55 per child.)
